MUSIC FESTIVAL 2017
"...the organizers managed to scale the pinnacle of art-meets-organization on the first try;
it was stunning."
The day-long event included performances from both national acts as well as highly regarded regional performers, including The Mammals, Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards, Abbie Gardner, Matt Nakoa, The Chapin Sisters, Sleeping Bee, Diana Jones, Paul Sachs, Dayna Kurtz, M Shanghai, Amy Allison, Bobtown and Tim Erbach & the Delta 88.
Due to a high volume of interest and a small volunteer staff, bookings are currently by invitation only. If we move to allowing public submissions, we will include a link here for artists. Thank you for understanding.
WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
Behind the birth of every festival, there is a story. In this case, it involves a handful of music presenters and enthusiasts who wanted to move exposure for a few of their favorite artists from the living room to a larger stage. Five of the six Board members are long-time presenters of house concerts, a time-honored (and now trendy) movement.
Proceeds for the the 2017 Hudson West Folk Festival went to the cultural programs of 4th Street Arts, a co-sponsor of the event. 4th Street Arts presents yearly scholarships to local youth for the purposes of art and music education and advancement.

An exciting three-piece acoustic honky-tonk band from Charleston, WV – plays original music that sounds as old as the hills and classic country music like it was made yesterday. According to Larry Groce of NPR’s Mountain Stage, Blue Yonder offers ...“a mix of virtuoso musicianship and original songwriting that plays as well in a hipster coffeehouse as it does in a small town concert hall.” Award-winning songwriter John Lilly fronts the band. According to one reviewer, “If Hank Williams had a sunny disposition, he’d be John Lilly.” (Durham, NC, Independent) Guitarist Robert Shafer is one of a very few to twice win the national flat-pick guitar championship in Winfield, Kansas. Joining Blue Yonder for this tour is bass player and harmony singer Lorie Lichtenwalner, a longtime member of the band Troublesome Creek and a popular musician in her own right.

AJ Mahal House Concerts will wrap up SUPER CONCERT WEEKEND* on Sunday afternoon with their "resident artist," Dan Navarro. For those unfamiliar with his work, Dan was a part of an amazing duo, Lowen & Navarro, for decades- they put out a number of great acoustic rock records and their songs were picked up by many other artists- Pat Benetar ("We Belong"), The Bangles, and, um... David Lee Roth, to name a few. We lost Eric Lowen a few years ago to ALS, and since then Dan's been coming into his own as a true solo artist, and you can hear him on the side as a voiceover artist (Happy Feet, The Book of Life, Family Guy, American Dad).
