In 2026, Hudson West Fest (HWF) launched a brand new music/education program titled "Senior Songs" aimed at improving the health and happiness of Hudson County elders. Senior Songs will occur four times in 2026 and and will pair a professional musician along with HWF volunteers to provide an interactive music experience at senior living facilities.

Music has the power to transcend loneliness, low self-esteem, and even memory issues. But, according to data from the National Center for Health Statistics, an estimated 60% of nursing home residents never receive visitors. This program is an attempt to take a swing at that statistic by pairing musicians with elders to improve their health and happiness. Through one- on-one interactive visits and/or performative concerts, both participating musicians and audiences walk away from this experience with changed hearts and an appreciation for the healing power of music.

If your organization would like to partner with us for a Senior Songs event, please contact us at hudsonwestmedia2@gmail.com.

This program is made possible by generous funding from the Jersey City Arts Trust and the Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.

Supported by public funds from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund.
