songwriter Open Mic
The Hudson West Fest is excited to launch a monthly series of free concerts in the heart of Jersey City that will feature established songwriters in addition to up-and-coming talent. The Open Mic will be managed by Fred Miller of Hudson West Fest and will be held the 4th Sunday of each month in the main room of the Brightside Tavern, a warm and welcoming restaurant and music venue. In addition to creating an outlet for people to listen to and perform acoustic music, the program's goal is to offer amateur musicians a space to share the stage with and learn from established artists.
This event will run from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Local musicians are encouraged to arrive earlier to sign up for the open mic.
The Brightside Tavern is located at 141 Bright St, Jersey City, six blocks from the Marin Boulevard light rail stop. Food and drink are available, and patrons of all ages are welcome.
Songwriter Sandbox
The Songwriter Sandbox is a monthy workshop get-together for Hudson County songwriters — with an emphasis on people early in their carers. The workshop focuses on songwriting technique and collaboration between participants to develop new songs. The workshop is led by songwriter Meghan Maidin with occasional support from well established musicians.
Sandbox participants have opportunities to perform at other Hudson West events as they occur.
